Laura Gibson on LiveWire next Friday, July 24th!

lauragibsonPortlander Laura Gibson returns to LiveWire, a one-hour radio variety show recorded in front of a live audience. She’ll be performing lilting songs from her new album Beasts of Seasons.
What does NPR have to say about the album? Oh, just this: “One of the year’s most breathtaking albums. Beasts of Seasons is nothing short of a masterpiece, both for its flawless and often haunting execution and for its inspired statements on the human experience.”

Also appearing on the show:
Animation badass from Wall·E, Up, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc., and Finding Nemo and others, ANGUS MACLANE.

Oregonian movie critic and author of Paul Newman: A Life, SHAWN LEVY.

ROBIN ROMM, author of The Mercy Papers (called “..a furious blaze of a book” by The New York Times Book Review) and fellow author JESSICA ANTHONY, whose debut novel The Convalescent was called “lush, cranky, and powered by dark, sweet humor” by Katherine Dunn.

Plus, Live Wire is proud to be the site of the 20th date of Spike’s 20 Dates in 20 Weekends blog project. She’ll be coming up onstage where she and her date will read audience haiku indicating how it’s going so far.

And as always, music from Ralph Huntley and the Mutton Chops, comedy from Faces For Radio Theater (guest writer this month: Daniel H. Wilson!) and host Courtenay Hameister.
