Hi-Scores Recording Library announces White Rings’ limited edition Suffocation EP. Available online today, the digital version features remixes from Los Campesinos!, Unision, Guy Dallas and many more. To celebrate the release, Hi-Scores is making the Los Campesinos! remix available for free online. You can grab it here.

Limited to a pressing of 500 colored white vinyl records, the physical version features the original title track as well as the haunted by Unison b-side remix. Adding to the offering, Hi-Score will also be including a download card for all six remixes with purchase of the physical record. The pre-order is up and running here.

The Brooklyn-based duo White Ring have been gaining momentum in the press for their icy, dark, fantasy-inspired electronic indie sound.

[MELOY-ANCHOLY ROCK] Folk-rock heroes the Decemberists are playing only two Northwest shows this year, and one will be at MusicfestNW. After the band’s ambitious 2009 rock opera, The Hazards of Love, Colin Meloy and his gang of merry Decemberists have been hunkering down in a barn outside an undisclosed Portland location recording a follow-up record with the help of R.E.M.’s Peter Buck.

All Songs Considered featured the Decemberists before they debuted The Hazards of Love at the NPR SXSW Showcase. For a band that had humble beginnings in 2000, the Decemberists have quickly become one of Portland’s most successful and respected indie-rock exports.

Since its 2004 MusicfestNW performance at the Roseland Theater, the band has made a great impression on the Portland folk-rock scene and is now poised to take over the world. The only question is, are you coming along for the ride?

Don’t gamble. The only way to see this rare Northwest performance is by getting your hands on a MFNW wristband or ticket. The Decemberists play with Laura Veirs, Blue Giant and Weinland at the Levi’s Pioneer Stage at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010.

Watch and listen to the Decemberists here.
Purchase MFNW wristband or ticket to the Decemberist show here.
Get $10 off your MFNW wristband here. (Hurry up! Offer expires July 6!)

MusicfestNW’s kickoff show is in line with everything else we are doing this year, BIGGER AND BETTER. This rare appearance byPanda Bear (of Animal Collective Fame) on Wednesday, September 8, at the Crystal Ballroom is destined to be an epic event that can’t be missed and will launch what is going to be the biggest MusicfestNW in the 10 years we’ve been taking over Portland, OR.

Three years after his breakthrough album, Person Pitch, Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) returns with the album that everyone is talking about and can’t wait to hear, Tomboy. As part of the build up to this incredible album, Panda Bear will be dropping a series of limited-eidtion 7″ singles up to the release of the full album. The first of these, also titled Tomboy will be released on July 13 and features two songs, “Tomboy” and “Slow Motion”.

When not working on music for Animal Collective, Panda Bear is still constantly churning out tunes that music fans just can’t get enough of. Other then his solo music he can be found working with Scotty Mou (DJ Casio – Queens) in Jane or with any of the other members of Animal Collective.

The Glitch Mob is a four man musical collaboration with roots from San Francisco and Los Angeles. What initially started as a joke/loose affiliation soon stuck as edIT, Boreta, Kraddy and Ooah found themselves frequently playing the same shows and eventually tag teaming during back to back time slots. Thislaught of ferocious bass, head cracking drums and infinitely complex rhythms. A proverbial Voltron effect on stage. Taking influences from hip-hop, experimental, and dance genres, The Glitch Mob have crafted their own form of futuristic dance floor hip-hop that has been “slaying” audiences world wide. Their live sets reinvent the dj “tag-team” concept with four performers on stage at once, interacting like a jazz combo, each taking the lead at intuitive moments, interweaving their own sounds, and remixing everything on the fly. The result is a sound distinctly their own, blending the deep head nod of hip-hop with serious bass music, throwing genre distinctions out the window. The Glitch Mob has been one of the cornerstones of this new electronic hip hop movement that has emerged from Glasgow to Montreal and back to Los Angeles. Taking a nod from the resurgence in the instrumental hip-hop “beats” movement, the Glitch Mob has injected a great sense of dance floor sensibility into the scene and crafted their own niche as new school dance floor destroyers.
